Pre-Departure Checklist

Congratulations on getting accepted into your host university!

Now that you have been accepted by the partner, you will likely receive communication from them directly, giving you details about orientation, start dates, visas, accommodation and any other arrival information.

From Swinburne Abroad’s side of things- you are now moving into the Pre-Departure stage, where we will help prepare you for the adventure ahead! It’s so exciting that your Semester or Short-term Exchange program is officially real now, but along with the excitement comes a lot of practical things we need to cover, so read on carefully.

Required Pre-Departure Information:

Click the link in your Student Portal Task list to complete the pre-departure form.

You need to provide us with this information all in one go (you won't be able to come back to it once it has been submitted), so if you do not have all of your details confirmed yet, you can come back to the link to submit all of the required information once everything is ready to go.

**Please don't open the link in a new tab as it will distort the system codes.

Mandatory Pre-Departure Session

As part of your Overseas Exchange program, you are required to attend a mandatory Pre-Departure information session. You should have already received an invitation to the pre-departure session (or you will soon).

Booking flights

As part of an additional risk management protocol, all Swinburne students participating in an overseas program must book their main departing and returning flights with Swinburne's approval travel provider, REHO Travel.

Insurance

All Swinburne students are covered by Swinburne's travel insurance policy with Chubb Insurance (for free). This insurance covers you for a maximum of 180 days (regardless of the length of your program).

Visit the Pre-Departure Hub

Our Pre-Departure Hub is designed to give you lots of important information, advice and tips to help prepare you for all areas of your Exchange program! Make sure you visit the Hub and read through every page carefully- there is a lot of important information in there about flights, insurance cover, health and safety, enrolment, visas, and more.
